Iron Fish Art Gallery

The Iron Fish Art Gallery is always open, even if its resident artist, Chase Allen, is not present. Chase has been featured in numerous Southern and Coastal Living publications and recently won a national “American Made” contest sponsored by the Martha Stewart magazine. Lots of interesting things to see here, and visitors enjoy exploring his art work in his outdoor gallery area. Chase also sells cool T-shirts and a few other items.

Daufuskie Wine & Woodworks

Daufuskie Wine & Woodworks is located on the north end of the island next to Freeport Marina. This business is located in a beautifully designed post and beam barn, which can also be rented for private events and gatherings. The woodworking shop is concentrated on building wooden kayaks, surfboards, canoes, and paddle-boards. The organic wine shop operates out of an attached building where they curate many wines and craft beers.

Generally open on Saturdays, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Freeport General Store

The Freeport General Store is located at the Freeport Marina (which includes the Old Daufuskie Crab Company) and carries snacks, soda, bottled water, and tourist gifts. The store also has an ATM (the only one on the island, and the service fee is very high) and an ice machine. You can usually find some basic food items here, but we don’t recommend you count on the store for any groceries that you really need/want at your vacation home.

1) Daufuskie Rental Group makes a good faith effort to describe island amenities, including restaurants and pools. However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.

2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)

3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.

4) Restaurant days and hours of operation vary seasonally and by business. We highly encourage all renters contact the business directly for operational times during their stay dates.
